The Low Estate is the plaything of Ensio, a Finnish wizard, and author of a book about Runes. Born in 1971, he is now 36 and so old enough to know a thing or two, but not too old to be senile and impotent.
Ensio shuns the herd and walks the less travelled roads. He is a hunter after mystery on many paths. He reads, and smokes his pipe, writes poetry, studies the Runes, and every now and then guides some apprentices.
Ensio is also passionately devoted to the mysteries of female beauty. Like an astronomer nightly attending to his telescope, Ensio regularly contemplates the great glory of the female form. He knows he will never solve the riddle of womankind, but he enjoys trying. Feminists fear him - but real women love him.
Being a good European, in love with European culture, Ensio tends to be a very politically incorrect kind of wizard, and has not yet been invited to any of his local mosques, or to a Feminist conference. When the Mullahs rise up against Finland, he will gladly take arms in the great War between barbarism and culture. He is in favour of Finnish beer and very much against burqas. He will fight!
And if the scimitar-waving hordes of Mordor triumph, well, then he will pack up and head deeper into the forest, into mystery.
